Robert Turner

Keyboard/Piano maestro Robert Turner is another of PGP’s members who hails from LA, and like D’Notes was a highly sought-after figure on the scene before moving to moving to Japan five years ago and then recently joining us in Shanghai. Growing up, his idols were Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, and Gene Harris, and he has played and recorded with greats such as Rahmlee Davis of Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Byron Miller, and even Dr. Dre.

To see him perform is to be exhilarated as he adds his own exceptional dynamic to the band. Hands flying across the keyboard, the man himself rocking and convulsing in time to the music – his talent is so great and he is so into what he’s playing that it sometimes seems as if he could improvise forever, furiously careening up and down the scales and pausing at snatches of well-known songs that he has lined up along the way.

Robert draws influence from neo-soul, 70’s, soul, jazz, blues, gospel, and fusion, and will conjure a tune out of anything else that you throw at him.
